A medieval coin; a contemporary imitation of an Irish cut half penny of Henry III. The legends do not appear to match the known coins of the Dublin mint and imitations of this time are relatively common. The reverse may read [ ]OIN - NDE, with N ligatured to the D - in imitation of the ONLV - NDE element of genuine London issues. Imitations often use elements of more than one coin when creating designs. It has not been possible to find an exact parallel for this coin, but there are many variations of imitations known, and many only survive as single examples. The coin is 18.09mm long,…
