A corroded copper-alloy medieval Portuguese coin; a ceitil of Duarte I (1433 - 1438) minted in Lisbon. Ref: See C.M. Almeida do Amaral, Catalogo descritivo das moedas Portuguesas (Lisbon 1977); p.315, nos 958ff. Edward Besly comments that there are few ceitils from English find spots, though the ceitils of Duarte's successor Afonso V (1438-81) are very common finds all across South Wales. A similar was is recorded under SWYOR-D03673.

This is a copper alloy coin of al- Nasir al-Din Muhammad, Mamluk Sultan of Egypt and Syria. It dates to his third reign (709-741 AH/ 1310-1341 AD), probably mint of Damascus, date probably 730AH/ 1329/30 AD. The obverse reads: 'al-malik a[l-nasir]' with curving ornamental design below (and above). The reverse consists of a five petalled rosette. A silver medieval double patard of Charles the Bold, Duke of Burgundy, cross fleuretty reverse, uncertain mint, AD 1467 - 1477. An agreement under Edward IV in 1469 confirmed the Low Countries coinage of Duke Charles as legal tender in England. In the late 15th and early 16th century, double patards of Charles the Bold were a part of the English currency and feature regularly in hoards alongside English groats as well as being recovered as single finds.
