A copper alloy Medieval coin weight. It is a uniface round weight, bearing a figure on horseback riding right with a sword in hand. It is 14.5mm x 14.2mm x 2.9mm, and weighs 3.38g. This weight was probably French and made for a cheval of Jean II (1350-1364) or Charles V (1364-1380). The weight is without a legend. This weight is similar to an example in 'Identifying coin weights found in Britain' by P and B R Withers (p.32).

Medieval French Jetton (1364 - 1422) showing the field of France on the obverse and cross fleuretty on the reverse. Attributed to the reign of Charles V (1364-80) althouogh the style cointinues into the reign of Charles VI (1380-1422). This style of jetton was often copied during the 15th century on 'Stock Jettons' of Tourney. For a similar example see Mitchener: 436

Medieval french coin weight; circular copper alloy uniface coin weight with a design of a man on a horse. Per Withers’ book this is a weight for the franc a cheval which was issued in the reigns of Jean II and Charles V (1364-1380). The weight does have an inscription, although this is mostly illegible. Quite worn.
