A silver post medieval coin; a Scottish twenty pence of Charles I (1625 - 1649), Third coinage (1637 - 1642). The coin has a diameter of 16.2mm and is 0.5mm thick. It weighs 1g. The coin has been struck off centre and is slightly bent. It has also been pierced with a lozenge shaped hole above and to the right of the bust, from the obverse. A Post Medieval silver Scottish twenty pence coin of Charles I (1625 – 1649), second or third coinage (1636 - 1642)(http://www.geocities.com/scottishmoney/coins/charlesi.html). It is 16mm in diameter and 0.5mm thick with a weight of 0.83 grams. The coin is in good condition with a dark silver patina. The obverse shows left facing crowned bust with XX behind the head. The inscription reads “CAR•D’.G’MAG•BR•FR•ET•HI•R•”. Reverse shows crowned thistle with inscription “IVSTITIA•THRONVM•FIR(MAT)”. Other examples on the database include LEIC-69F393 and LEIC-EA54A6.
