A complete copper alloy shilling of James II, (Irish) gun money coinage. Large size variant. Pellet stops. Coin reference: Seaby, 1984, 6581. Mass: 4.9g. Diameter: 25.9mm. As discussed in record references KENT-F12E34 and HAMP-483F40, during 1689 and 1690, James II operated a military campaign in Ireland from where he planned to mount an invasion of England, having been deposed by Mary and William of Orange. Waterford mint (which was closed by 1295, See "Coins of Scotland, Ireland and the Islands", 2nd edition, Spink, 2002, p125). Mass: 1.2g. Diameter: 19.5g. Class Ib (Spink, ibid. ref 6254). As in earlier reigns, a large proportion of pence coined in Ireland under Edward I were exported (ibid.)

A complete struck / hammered silver quarting of Sigismund of Luxembourg (AD 1387 to AD 1437, Holy Roman Emperor between AD 1433 and AD 1437), struck between AD 1430 and AD 1437, mint uncertain. Gold Ecu d'or au soleil de Bretagne of Francis I of France (1515-1547). Kelleher (forthcoming) notes that there have only been five Francis I gold coins recorded as finds in England to date, all from hoards (one from Bearpark, County Durham, four from Ely, Cambridgeshire). A Medieval silver half coin of John II of Avesnes, the Count of Hainaut (1280-1307), measuring 16mm and weighing 0.65g (10.0gn). The half coin appears to be broken rather than cut and there is some wear. The half coin appears to be a sterling imitation (Crockard). Obverse: Facing bust wearing chaplet of roses + [+:I:COMES:]HA[N]ON[IE. There appears to be what are probably double saltire stops too. Reverse: Long cross with three pellets in each quarter + [VAL E]NC HEN [ENS']. Mint: Valenciennes Date: 1280-1304 Reference: Probably Mayhew 28
