A Continental Medieval silver sterling imitation of an Edwardian long-cross penny, of Gauchier of Châtillon (c.1260-1329), Constable of France, Count of Porcien and holder of the fief of Florennes (by right of his wife Isabelle of Rumigny, whom he married in 1313, until she died in 1322); minted at Yves, 1313-1322, Mayhew type 239. An example in Copenhagen with M on reverse appears to be the closest parallel, see 239d. Measures 18mm, weighs 1.07g, die axis 9-10. A possible contemporary copy of a double patard of Charles the Bold, Duke of Burgundy (1467-77). It is apparently lead with a tin plating, rather than silver. Measures 26mm and weighs 2.07g. The coin is incomplete, bent and mutilated. An extremely worn and corroded copper alloy Medieval coin called a ceitil, probably of Alfonso V (1438-1481 AD), Lisbon. A ceitil is one-sixth of a real. The obverse depicts a three-towered castle above rows of waves and the reverse a square-topped shield bearing the arms of Portugal. The legends are illegible. The possible coin measures approximately 16.5 mm diameter, 0.67 mm thick and weighs 0.94 grams. For further PAS database examples, cf.: LON-C05BD4; LON-BF9534; IOW-13FC24.

An incomplete medieval copper alloy double mite coin of Phillip the Fair of Burgundy, dating to c. 1489 AD (Levison 2007, 221). This coin was minted in Ghent during a revolt against the Emperor Maximillian; the coins are struck in the name of his son and heir, Phillip (ibid). The flan is uneven, and part of the circumference of the coin is missing. It measures 20.0mm (length) x 17.1mm (width) x 0.6mm (thickness) and weighs 0.74g.
