A half noble of Philip the Bold, Duke of Burgundy and Count and Lord of Flanders, a.d. 1384-1404. This type of coin copies English nobles and half nobles very closely so based on the reverse legend this is a half noble. Obv: PhS DEI G DVX BVRG COM Z DNS FLAND Duke in a ship, holding a sword and shield with the arms of Burgundy (note stripes rather than lions alternating with lis in quarters). A gold Kupang of Queen Taj al-'Alam Safiat al-din Shah from Aceh, Sumatra dating to c.1641-1675 AD. Nicholas Rhodes (Secretary General of the Oriental Numismatic Society; pers. comm. via John Naylor PAS Finds Advisor) notes that this is one of the more common Acenese gold coins and should have a gold fineness of about 60%, it is also a little under the standard weight for this issue of 0.59g.

Gold Ecu d'or au soleil de Bretagne of Francis I of France (1515-1547). Kelleher (forthcoming) notes that there have only been five Francis I gold coins recorded as finds in England to date, all from hoards (one from Bearpark, County Durham, four from Ely, Cambridgeshire). This coin represents the first recorded "stray" find of a Francis I gold coin in England.

Four coins reported found on the site of a previous find of similar coins. These coins are all gold doblas of Peter or Pedro I, King of Castile ('Pedro the Cruel'), who reigned 1350-69. All the coins were struck at the Seville mint, the main mint of Castile. They are of good weight and are in generally good condition, with slight indications of wear, so they have seen some currency. Post medieval coin; Struck gold fanam from the Cochin area of the Dutch West coast of India. This is a very tiny, dished coin with abstract designs of circles, lines and dots on both sides. The coin was identified by Sam Moorhead (British Museum), who notes that coins of this type were struck by the Rajas of Cochin and the Zamorins of Kalicut in the period c1600-1800. Arabic gold dinar identified by Luke Treadwell. The coin is an Almohad half dinar of Abu Ya'qub Yusuf I (AH 558-80/AD 1163-84), struck in North Africa (the mint is not named) between 1168 and 1184. Abu Ya'qub Yusuf has the title 'amir al-mu'minin' on this coin, which dates it after AH 563/AD 1168. This type is described in Stephen Album's 'A Checklist of Islamic Coins' (no. 483) as 'relatively common', but the find has considerable historical interest of course.
