A complete silver hammered double-patard struck for Charles the Bold, Duke of Burgundy, Flanders and Limburg, dating c. 1467-1477. Obverse; shield emblazoned with the arms of Charles V, +KAROLVS DEI GRA DVX BG BRAB Z LIN. Double annulet stops. Reverse; +SIT NOMEN DOMINI BENEDICTVM AN (May the name of the Lord by blessed). Double annulet stops. Diameter; 27mm, weight; 2.91g. In 1469 a monetary convention between Duke Charles and King Edward IV made the former's coinage in the Low Countries legal tender in England.
