1689. James II 'gun money', copper alloy, shilling. Length 24.7mm, Width 24.3mm, Thickness 1.8mm, Diameter 24.7mm, Weight 3.6g. During 1689 and 1690 James II operated a military campaign in Ireland from where he hoped to mount an invasion of England, having been deposed by Mary and William of Orange.
