Copper alloy Tournai Jetton, probably dating to the late medieval / early post medieval period 1497-1547. Both faces of the coin are encrusted with a concreted amalgam of earth and grit which cannot be removed. It is likely that this crust is a by-product of corrosion. The edges of the coin have also been badly abraded; this has removed some of the inscription around the edge of the token.
