"I have examined an object reported found at "Darrington", West Yorkshire. The object is a piedfort or piéfort version of the coin-type known as the denier of the counts of Blois-Chartres. The reference to the coin is J. Duplessy, Les monnaies françaises féodales (2004) no. 585. This was the last of the anonymous Blois denier series (coins that do not name an individual count) and the only one of them for which there are known examples of piedforts, as several of this type have been recorded. A uniface medieval, lead alloy token, dating from c. 1100-1500. The upper surface is decorated with a crude sun or star design consisting of eight raised lines radiating from a central point. The reverse is rough but appears not to be decorated. It is 14.4mm in diameter and 3mm thick. It weighs 2.34gm. Reference: Fletcher, Tokens and Tallies Through the Ages, p. 32.

17 Medieval cast tokens found together. The tokens are of varying sizes but all are circular in plan. All have some form of decoration on at least one side, 11 of which have a long cross with one pellet in each corner.
