A copper-alloy jetton of Nuremberg of the ‘French Shield’ type dating from c. 1500-1525. The flan has been pierced at 5 o’clock on the obverse and there is also a crack in the flan at 1 o’clock. It is 29mm in diameter and 0.9mm thick. It weighs 3.25gm. For reference see Mitchiner, Vol. 1, No. 1069.

The token shows Volcanus on one side and Ciparissus on the other. It is quite worn and has a dull, dark brown patina over its surface. Obv.
