A gold medieval noble of Philip the Bold, Duke of Burgundy and Count and Lord of Flanders (AD 1384-1404). Delmonte 474. cf. Woodhead 2011, plate 16, no. 153. Gold nobles were issued in Flanders by Philip the Bold in response to English demands that wool bought in Calais should be paid for in nobles.

Silver Double Patard of Charles the Bold of Burgundy dating 1467-1477.The obverse has a squared shield of Burgundy with a rampant lion at the centre and the legend +KAROLVS DEI GRA DVX [BV]RG CO FLA translating to Charles, by the grace of God Duke of Burgundy and Count of Flanders.The reverse has ornate short cross fleury expanded in the centre to contain a fleur de lys and the legend +SIT NOMEN DOMINI BENEDICTV[M], which translates to May the Name of the Lord be Blessed.
