Medieval English pennies were widely imitated on the continent and were known as crockards and pollards. A 'Crockard' is a penny with the bust crowned with flowers; a 'Pollard' is a coin without a crown or flowers. Cf Mayhew, NJ, 1982, Sterling Imitations of Edwardian Type, The Royal Numismatic Society, London, pp 56-60. The coin has been broken into two fragments.
