Medieval silver coin, surviving as a fragment of about a quarter of the full coin (this is not a cut fraction but a broken fragment). The obverse shows a building, probably a cathedral or possibly a castle, the reverse a spear and (possibly) heraldic symbol. The coin probably dates to the 14th-16th century (most likely 15th century) and probably originated in one of the many German states.

Socttish Medieval silver coin: Penny of eithier Alexander III (2nd coinage), John Balliol, Robert Bruce, or David II. Too little of the coin survives for further identification.
Approximately one third of the coin survives; the edges are ragged, suggesting damage rather than intentional cutting.
