A medieval silver akce of Fatih Sultan Mehmet II (1444-1481). Dr Vesta Sarkhosh Curtis has commented that this example "could...be overstruck but is certainly Ottoman Turkish." Probably minted at Novar. Another similar example is NARC-8C11E3, from Northamptonshire. Measurements: 17.8mm diameter, 0.67mm thick, weight 1.32g.

Post medieval silver coin. The coin is a two stuiver piece, minted in Kampen, the Netherlands. The obverse depicts a lion advancing left in between a '2' and 'S'. The 'S' stands for 'Stivers'. The reverse of the coin reads 'CAM/PEN/1678'.

Post Medieval silver 8 Reales coin dating to 1689. The 8 Real was often referred to as a 'piece of eight' and has long been popularly associated with Pirates in literature and films. This coin was minted at the famous Potosi silver mine in Bolivia, one of several New World mints set up by the Spanish.
