A very worn silver early 13th-century medieval cut halfpenny of either William I (1195-1214) or Alexander II (1214-1249) of Scotland. The coin was cut from a penny of the voided short cross type, probably Phase B, unclear mint and moneyer (c. 1205 - c. 1230 AD).

No mint name and both moneyers Hue (at Edinburgh) and Walter (at Perth) mentioned. 20 points to the mullets on the reverse. Reverse legend retrograde. Obv. Profile head of the king, facing left, with crown and hair of pellets. Sceptre in front. HE REI WILA/[M] Rev. Voided short cross Moline. Single mullet in each quadrant.
