A medieval silver hammered coin; a Scottish penny of Alexander III, first coinage (1250-80AD). The obverse appears to be a type two. The moneyer is Wilam, and it was probably minted in Roxburgh. The coin measures 17.6mm diameter x 0.9mm, weighing 1.43g. See the Standard Catalogue of British coins volume two: coins of Scotland, Ireland and the Islands, number 5042.
