A medieval Scottish silver penny of Alexander III (1249 - 1286), possibly a first coinage long cross and stars penny of type VII (1250 - c.1280). The coin is very worn and is not complete, as all the legend has been removed and the edges have been thickened by hammering. It measures 15.8 by 1.6mm and weighs 1.29g. These measurements are unusual and it may be that this is a contemporary forgery. For reference see Seaby 5047. This coin recorded from a photograph.
