An incomplete copper alloy shilling of James II, (Irish) gun money coinage. Large size variant. Pellet stops. Coin reference: Seaby, 1984, 6581D. Mass: 3.3g. Diameter: 24.1mm. As discussed in record references KENT-F12E34 and HAMP-483F40, during 1689 and 1690, James II operated a military campaign in Ireland from where he planned to mount an invasion of England, having been deposed by Mary and William of Orange. A copper alloy post Medieval coin; an Irish halfcrown (large size) of James II, dated 1689. The reverse type is a crown over sceptres dividing JR, with XXX above and month of issue below. Unfortunately the month is illegible. The first letter is a possible J, but uncertain. Measures 31.9mm diameter x 2.3mm, weighing 11.82g. See 'Standard Catalogue of British coins' volume 2, number 6579.

A copper alloy 'ship penny' jetton (reckoning counter) of unclear maker. The legend is very worn but appears fictitious. It depicts four fleur-de-lis in a lozenge on the obverse and a sailing ship on the reverse, it is likely to date to the later 16th century (1550-1600). See Mitchiner (1988) Jettons, Medalets and Tokens, Volume 1, numbers 1480 – 1485 for similar examples.
