A very worn silver half real of "Spain". In, "Coins of Europe", Carson, R. A. (1962, p.315) states that this type was introduced in 1497 under Ferdinand V and Isabella I (1474-1504-1516) but continued to be minted until 1537, within the reign of Charles V. On the obverse there is a yoke, Ferdinands symbol, and on the reverse a bundle of arrows, Isabellas symbol.

While the coin is identical in many ways with an English regular issue it combines features not normally seen together on the same coin. It has a bifoliate crown which is only found in Class 10 onwards or the coins of Edward III. However the legend EDW R ANGL DNS hYB is only found on Classes 1-9 or the Florin coinage of Edward III. Post medieval French coin; struck copper alloy 2 sols coin of Louis XVI, from the early revolutionary period (c.1789-1793). The coin has been heavily doctored, seeming to have had the complete inscription ring on the reverse of the coin filed off and then to have been silvered. The coin therefore now has a champhered cross-section and file marks can be seen on the slope of the removed section. Very worn.
