A possible contemporary copy of a double patard of Charles the Bold, Duke of Burgundy (1467-77). It is apparently lead with a tin plating, rather than silver. Measures 26mm and weighs 2.07g. The coin is incomplete, bent and mutilated. Cast unifaced lead token. The token is decorated with a six petalled flower overlaid by c.25 pellets apparently randomly spaced. The token is 26.1mm in diameter, 2.3mm thick and weighs 11.4grams. Tokens with such simple designs are very easy to make and continued in use for a long period but those with flower designs are generally considered to date from the late medieval or eary post medieval period so a general date of 1400-1650 AD is given.

Tokens have a variety of uses and so are hard to date closely. Lead tokens had a wide variety of uses and were made locally, they are therefore hard to date precisely but those with initials are thought to be Post Medieval in date (1500-1850 AD).
