A half noble of Philip the Bold, Duke of Burgundy and Count and Lord of Flanders, a.d. 1384-1404. This type of coin copies English nobles and half nobles very closely so based on the reverse legend this is a half noble. Obv: PhS DEI G DVX BVRG COM Z DNS FLAND Duke in a ship, holding a sword and shield with the arms of Burgundy (note stripes rather than lions alternating with lis in quarters).
