A copper-alloy 16th century biface coin weight produced in Antwerp by Cornelius Janssen and dated to 1583 AD. It is flat, square in shape measuring 15.33mm in length, 15.21mm in width, and 2.86g in weight. The cross motif of the reverse face of this weight probably indicates its usage for weighing Spanish or Portugese coinage, although it falls a little under the standard weights for both the Spanish escudo (3.38g) and the Portugese cruzado (3.5g). A very worn, clipped and cut silver coin of later Medieval date. The coin has been cut in half and the edges clipped to the extent that the legends are unidentifiable. This is probably a cut French coin, perhaps a double patard, which became legal tender in Britain in 1469 as an equivalent to the English Groat (see for example LEIC-952473).

A gold Kupang of Queen Taj al-'Alam Safiat al-din Shah from Aceh, Sumatra dating to c.1641-1675 AD. Nicholas Rhodes (Secretary General of the Oriental Numismatic Society; pers. comm. via John Naylor PAS Finds Advisor) notes that this is one of the more common Acenese gold coins and should have a gold fineness of about 60%, it is also a little under the standard weight for this issue of 0.59g.
