An extremely worn and corroded copper alloy Medieval coin called a ceitil, probably of Alfonso V (1438-1481 AD), Lisbon. A ceitil is one-sixth of a real. The obverse depicts a three-towered castle above rows of waves and the reverse a square-topped shield bearing the arms of Portugal. The legends are illegible. The possible coin measures approximately 16.5 mm diameter, 0.67 mm thick and weighs 0.94 grams. For further PAS database examples, cf.: LON-C05BD4; LON-BF9534; IOW-13FC24.

Rev descrip: Cross pattee within six arched tressure with pearls of the angels around perimeter points of pattee.
Weighs 1.04 g; 19.31 mm in diam. 0.93 mm thick.

A badly damaged Medieval silver coin probably a half real of Ferdinand and Isabella (1469-1502 AD). Although very worn, the obverse appears to have the 'Yoke of Aragon' the symbol of Ferdinand, while the reverse carries Isabella's mark, the Arrows of Castile. None of the legends can be determined.

1490's Spanish hammered silver coin of Isabella and Ferdinand III two reales. Length 19.6mm, Width 18.7mm, Thickness 0.8mm, Diameter 19.6mm, Weight 1.0g. Two reales of Isabella (Queen of Castile and Leon 1451-1504)and Ferdinand III (King of Argon 1452-1516). The two jointly financed Columbus's expeditions. Obverse:Yoke and fasces of Arrows. Inscription: Illegible except for 'IAN'. Reverse: Shield/Coat or Arms. Inscription: Illegible. Very worn, struck a little off centre or lightly clipped, good silver colour but also surface tarnish especially on the obverse.
