Medieval copper alloy jetton of Tournai, garbled legends, obv. angular shield of two towers in chief with two lis and a trefoil below, rev. cross paty with a quatrefoil springing from inner cirle into each quarter. Probably c.1475-1500. Diameter 27.1mm, thickness 1.7mm, weight 5.10g.
See Saunders 2001 (Salisbury Museum Medival Catalogue part 3) p.238, no.177 for a similar jetton again with garbled legends, dated to the 4th quarter of the 15th century.

Medieval jeton; struck copper alloy French jeton of 15th century date. The jeton has a cross initial mark and versions of the same legend on either side. The inscription is ‘Ave Maria Gracia Plena’, or ‘Hail Mary full of grace’. The design on the obverse is known as the "Chatel Tournois", the Castle of Tours design of the town of Tours, suggesting that this may be of the Tournai mint.
