A copper alloy 'Ship-penny' jetton. The obverse bears a ship with a stern castle on the right and flag bow on the left. This is the Nuremberg 'ship penny' derived from 15th century local issues. The 'four lis in a lozenge' reverse design was adopted by other French prototypes. This type is an anonymous issue, dating to 1490-1550AD. Although the inscriptions are illegible, it seems to be a 'small fictitious legend with no 'G' present above ship' type It measures 26.51mm diameter x 0.96mm, weighing 2.02g. For examples, see Mitchiner volume one, 1168-1186.
