A base silver later medieval coin of uncertain type, possibly continental. The reverse has a long cross with three pellets to each quarter, the obverse is illegible. The coin is extremely worn and partially coated with rusted iron encrustation.

An incomplete Medieval silver double petard of Flanders, minted for Charles the Bold, Duke of Burgundy (AD 1467-1477), struck at Bruges 1467-1474. Obv. Squared shield of Burgundy. Lion rampant in the centre. KAROLV[S:D]EI:GRA:[DV]X:BVRG:[CO]:FLA with double annulet stops (translating as Charles, by the grace of God Duke of Burgundy and Count of Flanders) Rev. Ornate short cross fleury. Expanded in the centre to contain a fleur de lys. SIT:NO[ME]N:DO[M]INI:BEN[ED]ICTVM with double annulet stops (translating as May the Name of the Lord be Blessed).

This copper alloy rose orb jetton was made by Hans Krauwinckel II in Nuremberg between 1586 and 1635. Its type is found commonly on the Thames foreshore. The obverse shows ‘three crowns, alternately with three Lis, arranged centrifugally revolving around a central Rose with 6 heart shaped petals’. The marginal inscription reads ‘ HANNS.KRAVWICKEL: IN.NVRENBE’ (Mitchiner 1988). On the reverse an imperial orb is depicted ‘surmounted by a cross patty, within a treasure with three main arches’- The marginal inscription reads ‘GLVCK. BESC[---] ISTVN[EWERT] (Mitchiner 1988)…
