A complete cast lead alloy vessel pot mend (repair) probably of Roman or Medieval date. In plan, the object is sub-circular on both faces. No ceramic or copper-alloy remains attached to the lead to indicate what type of vessel the plug was used for. This object has rough surfaces with patches of off-white deposits. Length: 35.7mm; width: 25.0mm; thickness: 6.8mm. Weight: 31.58g. Pot mends of this form are found in both Roman and Medieval periods, as a common way to repair broken pottery vessels. Without any remains of the pot it is impossible to date it more precisely.

One of the faces is decorated with ten stamped and unevenly spaced ring-and-dot motifs. It is trapezoidal in plan and has a trapezoidal opening at its centre measuring 8.3 x 4.6mm. At one outer edge a slot measures 3.1mm x 2.2mm. At the opposite end on the upper face there is a central shallow transverse groove that extends over the bevelled face. The rear face is flat and plain.
