An incomplete copper-alloy object of Unknown date, possibly a toilet article or needle (AD 43-1800). This undecorated object is misshapen, slightly convex on one side and flat on the other side. At one end there are the remains of an eye or loop and the opposite end has a transverse break. It has a uniform thickness throughout its length but its width tapers. At the eye, the width is 3.4mm and at the break it has a width of 2.0mm. The object has a green patina and the breaks are old. Length: 78.5mm; length if straightened: c. 129.5mm; width: 3.4mm; thickness: 1.5mm. Weight: 3.53g.

The sides taper from the flat base towards the top where it is narrowed and flattened to form a suspension loop. The off-set circular hole has a diameter of 6.0mm. A complete lead alloy possible spindle whorl of Unknown date (c. AD 43-c. 1800). The spindle whorl is sub-circular and is hemi-spherical, domed at the top and flat on the underside. A central hole has parallel sides and is 5.0mm in diameter. This spindle whorl has a coarse surface and is greyish buff. Length: 19.4mm; width: 16.3mm; thickness: 7.2mm. Weight: 11.09g. Plain spindle whorls and weights were cast locally in lead from the Roman period onwards and are hard to date precisely although most are late Medieval or post-Medieval.

The motif is in the form of curvilinear lines forming three evenly spaced conjoined 'scrolls'. The front has a patterned border of continuous oblique lines. The reverse is flat and plain with whitish patches of corrosion. On the rear face, just below the protrusion, a small pale circular area is possibly a break.
