An incomplete cast lead weight of Unknown date. Maximum diameter 61.0mm. Weight 860g. (1lb 14 3/8 ounces). The weight is sub-spheroidal in form but has old damage which has caused it to be misshapen. It does not appear to have been a bi-conical weight originally. Two areas of iron, flush with the surface, are probably the remains of a loop that enabled the weight to be suspended.

A complete cast conical lead weight of Unknown date. Length 13.0mm, maximum diameter 21mm. Weight 21.79g. In plan, the weight is sub-circular and has nine/ten ribs that radiate from the apex to the edge of the base. The base is slightly convex and has a linear depression which appears to be a casting flaw rather than being intentionaly executed. The weight is in good condition and in places there is a residue of an off-whitw/buff corrosion deposit. A similar weight of unknown date has been published. See Biggs and Withers, 23, ref. 32.

Cast lead circular weight of Unknown date. Diameter 26.5mm and 6.2mm thick. Weight 30.04g. (1.059 ounces). The weight is circular in plan and in the form of a flat disc with convex edges. At the centre is a sub-circular perforation , about 5mm in daimeter. The rim of the perforation on each face is slightly raised and parts are burred over towards the opening. This is probably the remains of unfettled casting sprue. The faces of the perforation appear not to be worn. The surfaces have many indentations which appear to have been created by accident rather than design. Although the weigh…

Incomplete cast teardrop-shaped lead weight of unknown date. Length 47mm, maximum diameter 32mm. Weight 253.18g. (8.929 ounces). The weight has a central longitudinal circular perforation which is about 3.5mm in diameter. The perforation probably accommodated a suspension loop at the top and perhaps a hook at the bottom to suspend another weight. This weight may have been associated with a steelyard. Although the weight is in fair condition, the surface has many old scuffs, scratches and indentations over which there is a grey/brown coloured patina.
