An incomplete Early-Medievlal (Anglo-Saxon) or post-Medieval unidentified object (c. 1000-c. 1800). The openwork plate is sub-lozenge shaped in plan, moulded at the front and mainly flat at the rear. At the centre there are two sub-square holes with two smaller circular holes nearby. There are also two incomplete holes at one end. This object is reddish brown with bright green corrosion products at the front and rear. A fleck of gilding can be seen at the front. Length: 24.8mm; width: 23.0mm; thickness: 2.7mm. Weight: 3.02g.

An incomplete copper-alloy unidentified object of Unknown date and function. This object is sub-rectangular in plan and cross-section. In plan, from the straight and broken end, the sides taper in for a short distance and then flare to the slightly rounded and complete end. On the underside, close to the break, there is a circular hole, 8.0mm in diameter and 4.7mm in depth. The object is green and corroded with patches of a dark brown patina. The break is abraded. Length: 50.0mm; width: 23.1mm; thickness across hole: 6.4mm. Weight: 29.71g.

At the position where the shank begins to taper the diameter of the shank is slightly narrower. This pin has a patchy green patina and the point is sharp. A circular hole on the upper face has a diameter of 2.8mm and it penetrates through to the rear face where it is smaller and its edge is partially burred. The object appears to have been chopped at each end. This object is greyish buff. Length: 40.0mm; width: 25.9mm; thickness: 2.0mm. Weight: 19.04g. The object was found close to the find-spot of IOW-5A4709.

The upper face of the object bears stamped Roman numerals: IX or XI. On the upper face, in one angle of the X, there is a circular hole which measures 2.8mm in diameter. The hole penetrates through to the rear face where it is smaller and its edge is burred. The hole is currently filled with earth. The disc is pierced on one face with five pits, one at the centre surrounded by four more evenly spaced. The opposite face of the object is undecorated. The function of the disc is unclear. However, a weight or gaming piece could be considered likely. Both medieval playing pieces and playing boards were often improvised and ephemeral items. This object is grey. A complete lead alloy spindle whorl of Unknown date (c. 43-c. 1800). The spindle whorl is circular in plan and is hemi-spherical, domed at the top and flat on the underside. A central hole has parallel sides and is 8.0mm in diameter. This spindle whorl is greyish buff with a coarse surface. Diameter: 23.5mm; thickness: 8.0m. Weight: 24.27g. Plain spindle whorls and weights were cast locally in lead from the Roman period onwards and are hard to date precisely although most are late Medieval or post-Medieval.

The shaft widens from the hook to the centre and then narrows and becomes flat. The shaft is sub-triangular in cross-section and has a longitudinal ridge and groove at on side. This object is corroded and fragile and vaguely resembles an Iron Age to Roman cosmetic pestle. Length: 59.5mm; width: 8.7mm; thickness: 5.0mm. Weight: 5.46g.
