A complete Roman to post-medieval lead spindle whorl. It has a flat base and convex upper surface. There is a central circular hole, 8.89mm in diameter. There scratches, marks and a raised pellet on the curved upper surface, although these do not appear to form a distinct pattern. The metal survives in good condition.
Undecorated spindle whorls were in use from the Roman to post-medieval period. The small diameter of the hole may indicate a date towards the earlier of this chronology.
