Sub-spherical weight with flattened ends where the large central perforation truncates the ball. There is a ridge expanding mid way down on each side of the internal walls of the perforation. The internal diameter of the perforation is 11mm. The outer surface of the object is uneven and has been damaged. Other weights of this shape have been suggested to be net or line weights from fishing. Modern line weights are similar but tend to have a smaller perforation. The well developed patina suggests that the weight has some age, but it is not possible to suggest the period.
