Broad period: UNKNOWN
County: Cheshire West and Chester

A complete but damaged gold finger ring of uncertain date. The ring has an oval hoop and a flattened sub-rectangular bezel which has been damaged. The ring is undecorated. There is no inscription and no maker's marks or stamps. Dimensions: 21mm in diameter, 3mm in width, 3.2g. A piece of gold probable casting waste of uncertain date. The object is irregular in plan and consists of a thin sheet of gold. The object is ridged with a curving pattern which is likely to have occurred when the liquid gold flowed onto an uneven surface and solidified. The gold does not appear to be purpose made with a deliberate pattern. The rear of the object has a dull gold colour and has the appearance of being pressed. The outer face is a brighter gold. The edges of the object are thin and sharp, and have been folded over in places. Due to the undiagnostic nature of this fi…

A small fragment of gold, dished and decorated on the outside of the curve, possibly broken from some kind of vessel. The decoration appears to be a plant design, of probable late medieval date. The inner side is undecorated. The exact character of the object is uncertain. There is no reason to doubt that this object meets the 10% threshold required by the Treasure Act, or that it is more than 300 years old. As such it therefore qualifies as Treasure under the terms of the Act.
