Record ID: NCL-03C630
Object type: SPINDLE WHORL
Broad period: UNKNOWN
County: County Durham
Workflow stage: Published Find published
Ceramic, conical object. It possesses a central perforation measuring 10mm in diameter and a flat bottom. Dr Kevin Leahy writes: it is most unlikely that this object was, as described, a 'Loom weight' and it was probably a spindle whorl. Dating is impossible on the surviving evidence.
