Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
An incomplete fragment of worked stone of uncertain date. Approximately one third of an originally circular stone survives, the remainder now missing due to old breaks. The stone is extremely hard, pale yellow to white in colour, and slightly pink along one of the old breaks, perhaps as a result of post-usage exposure to heat or fire. Both faces are extremely smooth and have central indentations. It appears plausible that these smooth indentations are a product of use-wear, although for precisely what or when remains unclear. The surviving fragment measures 102.24mm in length, 46.75mm…

The frame itself is sub-rectangular in form with flattened surfaces and rounded edges. Towards the base(?) it narrows slightly before turning inwards to a projecting and narrowed cylindrical oval sectioned bar that terminates in old breaks. At the top(?) of the object the frame expands slightly and where it terminates in old breaks, directly above the narrow bar at the base, there is perhaps a slight narrow…

A worn and incomplete fragment from a copper-alloy object of uncertain form. The surviving fragment is roughly rectangular in form, curved in profile, and with one flattened end, terminating in all directions in old breaks. The outer edge has the remains of two moulded transverse flutes between transverse ribs or ridges, while the interior is concave. This perhaps indicates that the object was originally cylindrical in form, although this remains uncertain given the small surviving fragment. All surfaces have extensive wear, and the exterior has a corroded dark green patina. It measur…
