A complete but distorted gold finger ring set with a carnelian in an oval bezel. The hoop is 1.2mm wide and ovoid in section, widening to flat triangular terminals where it is joined to the bezel. This join is strengthened by a strip of gold wrapped round the ends of the hoops. The back of the bezel is an applied flat plate, with a central circular pierced hole. The raised oval setting is formed from another sheet of gold folded and pinched at the top of the oval. Around it at the base is a border of twisted gold wire, with filigree beaded wire above this. Circumstances of discovery: While gardening. The finder was digging a tree stump and bushes in a garden with a maximum depth of approximately eighteen inches.
Description: A gold pendant of unknown date and manufacture. The pendant is rectangular, slightly distorted and has an integral loop. A figure of a knight wearing armour, spearing a dragon. The scene is topped by a gathering of clouds and a series of rays indicating a sunburst. Discussion: This ring has been assessed by multiple British Museum curators who have not been able to assign a period to this ring. The ring may well be non-British. Compare ESS-F173D0.

This fragment, about 1/3rd of a silver finger ring, now distorted, consists of a flat plain band which expands fairly sharply to a rectangular bezel with engraved decoration consisting of a transverse band of short closely spaced lines at the junction between band and bezel, a circle with four lines through it, and a further transverse band of lines across which the bezel is broken.
