An incomplete unidentified copper alloy object. Its patina and decoration suggest a Roman or medieval date, although until its function can be ascertained this cannot be estimated with any confidence. The object has a length of 67.75mm, a maximum width of 11.32mm, and a maximum thickness of 5.34mm. It weighs 16.00g. The object tapers from its complete wider end (11.32mm) to its broken narrower end (7.92mm). In side elevation the wider end is thinner than the narrower end which is hollow, the sides folded in on the reverse to form a C shaped end section with a butt joint in the centre …

Circumferential striations are visible in the glass. It is 10.2mm diameter, 5mm thick and 0.61g. It is impossible to date a bead of this type without further context or dating evidence. They have been found in Roman and Early Medieval contexts but are also found from the later and onward into modern times. Compare YORYM-EDA868

A copper alloy tool, probably an engraving tool, burin, chisel, awl, punch or stylus, of uncertain date, Roman to Post Medieval. It is a rod which is circular in section, 4.6mm diameter. At one end it tapers to a square section and then reduced to a point. At the other end is a flattened globular head of 6.5mm diameter and 3.2mm thick. The object has a well developed smooth green patina. It would also work as a nail but seems to be better made than that. Overall, the object is 67.5mm long, 6.5mm diameter and 7.67g. A copper alloy tanged awl of unknown date. Many are recorded as possibly Bronze Age, but as the design of awls changed very little, it could also be much more recent. The awl has two different cross-sections. For two fifths of its length is has a sub-circular cross-section, tapering to a point. The rest of the tool is square in cross-section, tapering to a wide wedge; this end s the tang and would have been hafted. The awl has a well developed dark brown patina. It is 51.8mm long, 5.6mm wide and 5.2mm thick. 5.53g. Compare for example, SF7553.

An unidentified iron and copper alloy object of unknown date, possibly Post Medieval. The object is an incomplete sub-circular loop of iron with a copper alloy casing, consisting of (probably) seven triangular lobes, integrally cast, each projecting outwards. The space inside the loop is thus heptagonal. Four of the lobes survive, with two partial ones remaining at the ends. There is space for one more posited matching example, but this area could equally have had a different feature or an attachment point. There appears to be a groove across the loop between most of the pairs of proj…

A copper alloy fitting, perhaps from a strap or harness of unknown date, but possibly Iron Age or Roman. The object, perhaps a strap union, consists of a chunky rectangular loop which extends at one end into an angular bead-like moulding (biconical) which links the rectangular loop to a smaller circular loop. There is possible slight wear at the far end of the circular loop, perhaps suggesting that the fitting was suspended here. The whole object is thick and stocky, but the apertures of the loops are unusually small for harness; the circular loop has an internal diameter of 4.2mm and…
