Five fragments of bloomery slag that appear to have been produced from the tapping process. All display smooth molten ridges and channels on the face characteristic of runs of solidified molten taped slag. Where broken the core is seen to be dense but filled with abundant, small bubbles and cavities. These fragments measure 1, 35mm by 33mm 2, 50mm by 35mm 3, 70mm by 50mm 4, 42mm by 30mm 5, 115mm, by 80mm

Copper alloy awl/point. The artefact is a long thin rod that is split into two sections. The first section is the forward edge, has a pointed tip that expands to a waist in the centre of the rod; this section has a circular cross-section.  The rear half is thinner than the forward section and has a rectangular cross-section with a flat terminal, this section would most likely have formed a tang that was inserted into a handle.

A small fragment of a copper alloy Unidentified object. That consists of a curving perimeter suggesting the original item has a pronounced curving or even circular form. The face is decorated with two panels of 4 lines, with each set alternating between the vertical and horizontal axis. Assuming this is a circular object, this decoration could form an outer band. The rear is undecorated with a steep bevelled edge.

Flint lithic implement on a secondary flake. This is oval in plan with a negative bulb on the dorsal and a large bulb of percussion on the ventral. The flint has semi-abrupt edges with flaking scars on one side, these do not look to be retouch, but more likely flake removal from the core/tool manufacture and this is a discarded element of that process. Brown patina with lighter speckles, 15% cortex on one side.

A complete lead / lead alloy standing weight dating from the medieval period onwards (c.AD 1200-1800). The weight has an oval base and conical sides that taper to the top where a pierced semi-circular tap that sits at the apex forms the suspension loop. The object is undecorated and has a powdery white patina. Weights can be hard to date due to being a functional item that has not altered significantly over time. Biggs and Withers (2000) note that standing weights made of lead were still used in comparatively recent times. Additionally, its weight does not clearly fit within…
