The weight would once have been conical in shape, but has been cut down the centre, possibly to check how deep the suspension loop hole had been cast. further attempts at cutting the weight can be seen through a further two incisions made to one side. It has been suggested that the object could be the foot of a larger object.

The object has a small rectangular centre, it has an inscribed X in the centre, projecting from each side is a cylindrical arm, each terminating in a worn break, one arm is hollow, the rest are solid. An undiagnostic gold fragment of uncertain date. The fragment is sub-rectangular in plan and rectangular in section both sides appear to have been hammered/worked. The short ends both appear to have been cut. No decoration is present on either the obverse or the reverse of the sheet. Length 22.2 mm, width 7.5 mm, thickness 1.2 mm and weight: 2.29 g. This find has since been assessed by a relevant specialist. In their opinion the object is undiagnostic and cannot be securely dated to pre-1720, and therefore it falls outside the provisions of the Treasure Act 1996.
