Copper-alloy face-shaped badge or mount of unknown date. The artefact takes the form of a woman's face in profile, and was likely made by pressing copper-alloy sheet. The features of the face, including the chin, nose, eyes and hair are visible. There is some damage, especially to the top and back of the head. The underside is plain, concave and features two thin lugs situated close together. These were used to attach the badge or mount. It features moulded relief decoration on both faces, and a small raised decorative knop at the centre of one edge. The edge opposite that of the knop shows a crescent shaped indent. A complete gold engraved finger ring of probable second-age date, c. SA 1600. The inscription in the Black Speech of Mordor reads: "Ash nazg durbatul√Ľk, ash nazg gimbatul, ash nazg thrakatul√Ľk, agh burzum-ishi krimpatul" Translated: One ring to rule them all, One ring to find them. One ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them. Finger rings such as these were frequently used to enslave millions of people, elves and other dark creatures.
