A copper alloy figurine of uncertain date, possibly Late Post Medieval to Modern (AD 1750-1900).
The type of animal depicted is unclear, the figure is in a dancing pose with both arms outstretched. The face has circular indentations to represent the eyes, a fairly large nose and wide mouth with teeth showing. An incomplete cast lead or lead alloy spindle whorl of Roman to Post Medieval date (AD 43 - 1650). In plan the spindle whorl is sub-circular and in profile is bi-conical. The central perforation has been started from each side of the object but remains unfinished. On one of the faces the indentation is more pronounced than the other face where it is little more than a small concave impression. Each face of the object is worn and has no visible decoration. A cast lead or lead alloy spindle whorl of Roman to Post Medieval date (AD 43 - 1650).In plan the spindle whorl is sub-circular and in profile is biconvex. There is a central sub-circular perforation which measures 6.8 mm in diameter. The internal edge also has an oval shaped void in the side wall. Both faces have a decorative pattern is composed of longitudinally radiating lines. The surface of the spindle whorl is cream in colour and is abraded. Spindle whorls are used for a long period of time and as such are very difficult to date precisely.

A cast lead or lead alloy spindle whorl of Roman to Post Medieval date (AD 43 - 1650). In plan the spindle whorl is sub-circular and in profile is sub-oval. There is a central sub-circular perforation which measures 7.32 mm in diameter on one face and is slightly narrower on the opposing face measuring 6.72 mm. This irregularity is possibly due to wear. This example is undecorated on both faces. The surface of the spindle whorl is cream in colour and abraded. Spindle whorls are used for a long period of time and as such are very difficult to date precisely.
