A complete lead alloy vessel repair (pot mend) of Roman to Post Medieval dating (AD 43 to AD 1700).
The vessel repair is irregular in plan and cross section. It consists of two sub oval 'plugs' of lead either side (sandwiching) a sherd of pottery (now missing). The repair would have originally been 'H' shape in construction, with a central rivet and two radiating arms either side of the ceramic vessel, to seal the hole and repair the broken vessel.
It measures 24.8 mm in length, 29.0 mm wide and 8.6 mm thick. It weighs 30.6 g.

The artefact consists of a oval shaped domed centre. The reverse is concave. Horizontal ridges are present. The upper and lower edges are incomplete, there are remains of rectangular bars extending from each corner. Old breaks are present on the edges.

Both casting wells are of a similar shape. They have an almost conical top tapering downwards into a flat sub rectangular section. This section is uneven with some area thicker than others. The top of each well is concave with an uneven surface.
