A very corroded, incomplete, iron Roman brooch dating to c. AD 1st-2nd centuries. Probably Polden Hill type, although any detail of the bow or head is now obscured by the corrosion layer. The brooch is missing its pin, spring and catchplace, and only a small section of the bow survives.  The brooch is 18.21mm long, 16..27mm wide, 5.02mm thick and weighs 3.95 grams.

An incomplete iron artefact, of Roman date, AD 41 - 410. It is sub-rectangular in plan, square at one end and tapering and curving to a rounded point at the other. The main body of the artefact is thicker along one edge than the other and the rounded point, which is set at a slight angle to the orientation of the main portion, is also thinner than the main body. One end has parallel sides and tapers in thickness to a break, and in the other direction tapers to the remains of a socket. The socket area expands in width, and has incomplete sides that start to turn over at the top. The wide end may also be broken. A corroded iron slide key, similar to Manning (1985) Type 2 of Roman date The key handle is solid and rectangular in cross-section. At one end is a large circular perforation intended as a suspension loop. The bit of the key projects in the same plane as the bow and it is missing its teeth.  The key measures 67.07 mm in total length. The handle has a width of 26.54 mm and a thickness of 6.64 mm. A total of 25 copper alloy Roman hobnails and tacks. The nails are of varying sizes, with broadly circular sectioned shanks and pointed domed heads. The largest weighs 1.26 grams and measures 15.6 mm in length, 9.9 mm in width and 7.1 mm in thickness. There are three smaller ones which are incomplete. The smallest weighing 0.15 grams.
