An incomplete and corroded possible Roman copper-alloy artefact, possibly a snake-form finger-ring (AD 43-410).
The object is in poor condition and this identification is based largely on the fact that the overlapping terminals appear to be an original feature and not the result of damage.
The object consists of a sub-circular thick wire loop with overlapping terminals and is sub-circular in cross-section. The terminals are of a different width, the wider terminal may be a snake’s head resting on the other terminal, the tail. Due to corrosion, there are no anatomical featu…

A gold bezel from a Roman finger-ring, consisting of an intaglio within an ovoid sheet-metal setting, with the hoop of the ring almost entirely absent. The intaglio is of a dark-blue and grey stone, probably nicolo, which is engraved with a standing figure of Mars facing right, wearing a short tunic, a plumed helmet and holding a spear out in front and a shield that is resting on the ground behind. The intaglio is set within a recessed collar, rather crudely finished, that steps down to a lower rim decorated with incised lines that form 'V' shapes which run around the entirety of the …

This finger-ring has a bezel and shoulders with overlapping ends forming a hoop.
