Early Roman or Romano British copper alloy brooch. Probably a Colchester derivitave of some sort. It shares similarities with type 17 in Hattatt's 'Ancient And Romano-British Brooches' (fig.20, p.65). It appears undecorated. The sprung pin, spring, and axis bar, are absent. The catchplate andbase of a probable spring top retaining loop are present in part. Probably dates from c43 to c60 AD. The length is 39mm, the width is 23mm and the weight 5.30g. Similar brooches on the database include KENT-2CBC29, LEIC-A9FF82, PAS-1AE64C, and SF-9D0A41.

A late Iron Age or Early Roman copper-alloy mount 40 to 200AD. The mount is a circular convex disc with a raised rim and inner circle. The inner circle is filled with a red colourant probably enamel. It has a circular hole in the centre. The mount is similar to one found in Crummy 1983, no.4037, given an early Roman date in the 1st century. Crummy states this may be military in origin, though it is difficult to determine. A fragment of a coarse ware Roman brick found in the River Ribble dating to the period AD 70- 410. The fragment is rectangular in shape and cross section. The fragment is well oxidized, due to its strong orange colour, but there are exceptions of a reduced black core. The brick is well made with visible grog inclusions. The brick remains undecorated. Very similar to WILT-4429F8 on the database. The length is 145mm, the width is 98mm and the weight is too heavy for scales.

A very worn brooch or mount probably fragment probably dating from the 1st-4th century AD but it could be earlier. It is oval and the obverse has been decorated with white metal and what appears to be the traces of beading. The reverse is plain with no obvious signs of attachment which may mean that it is a component element of a larger object. The diameter is 35mm.

The emperor is Delmatius, who reigned as Caesar for only two years until Constantine I's death, between 335-337 AD.
