A sherd from the rim of a Roman ceramic Samian ware vessel.  The sherd comes from the rim of a deep-sided vessel, probably a bowl, but is too small to estimate the original diameter. The fabric is hard and fine, red-orange with a glossy red-orange slip. Probably of central Gaulish Les Martres-de-Veyre production (LMV SA), which was mostly exported to Britain in the early 2nd century AD. Length: 40.28mm, width: 35.95mm, thickness: 7.11mm, weight: 9.37g
