A copper alloy probable pin dating to the Roman period (AD43-410). The object is rectangular in cross section and tapers from the terminal (measuring 5mm in width) to the point (measuring 1.5mm in width). One face is decorated with a row of punched triangles running a long each edge. The point of each punched triangle faces the point of the opposite punched triangle. The object has been bent in the centre. The patina suggests that this may have happened during antiquity. Below the bend towards the point, the punched decoration is worn and shallow. A fragment of a copper alloy pin of Cool group 1, dating to the Roman period. The terminal of the pin consists of, from top to bottom, a globular onion-shaped knob with a circular collars below. The stem is circular in cross-section and terminates just below the head. The object has an olive green patina. Dimensions: 12mm in length, 8mm in width, 2.8g. The form resembles Cool group 1, knob heads. Pins such as this were used throughout the Roman period, (AD43-410). Reference: Cool, H.E.M., 1990 Roman metal hair pins from Southern Britain, 147, 159-160, fig 6, 1-4.

A copper alloy pin of Cool group 8, dating to the Roman period. The terminal of the pin consists of, from top to bottom, a globular ovoid knob, a circular collar, another ovoid knob, and two circular collars. The stem is circular in cross-section and tapers gradually towards the lower end where it terminates with a break. The stem turns to one side just above the break. A cast copper alloy Roman pin head of Crummy's Type 3, dating from the Roman period, c. AD43-410. The head and a small amount of the shaft survives. The head is bi-conical in shape with a pointed top. The base of the head tapers into the shaft which has a circular section and measures 2.96mm in diameter. The object has been over cleaned and the patina removed. There is no visible decoration. The object is dark brown in colour.

A cast copper alloy pin possibly dating to the Roman period. The head of the pin is plain and globular with a broken point or tip. The object narrows downwards from the head, measuring 5.24mm in diameter, tapering towards the point, measuring 1.20mm in diameter, where the object terminates. The shaft is circular in cross-section and is complete. The shaft is bent. The object can possibly be classified as Crummy's Type1 dating to the 2nd century AD. The object has a dark brown patina.

A cast copper alloy pin dating to the Roman period, (AD 43-410). The object can be classified as Cool's group 1, sub group C. It has a spherical head which measures 10.15mm in diameter. The shank is circular in cross-section and measures 3.37mm in diameter. The shank is incomplete breaking 6.21mm below the head. The shank is slightly bent but does not taper. The object has a dark brown patina and has patches of light green corrosion on the head. Cool notes pins of sub group C are found widely scattered throughout southern Britain and were used throughout the Roman period, (1990), p151.

Copper alloy pin dating to the Roman period, (43-410AD). The object has a conical head. The tip of the head is missing due to an old break while one side of the head is chipped due to a recent break. The shaft is cylindrical and tapers towards the tip where it terminates with a break. The top of the shaft is decorated with horizontal parallel grooves on two opposing faces. The object has a dark green patina. A similar example is no.480, p29, Crummy, (1983).

Cast copper alloy pin possibly dating to the Roman period, (43-410AD). The object has an oval sectioned shaft and a rectangular sectioned terminal. The terminal is sub-oval in plan. Below the terminal on the outer face is a raised transverse collar. The reverse of the terminal is flat and undecorated. The shaft tapers towards the end which terminates with a break. The shaft has been bent backwards forming a U-shape. The patina on the object has been removed due to over-cleaning.

Bone hair pin dating to the Roman period. The object has been carved out of a single piece of bone. It has a conical head. The head is decorated with incised cross-hatching. At the top of the head there is a projecting lobe. There are two pronounced ridges at the top of the neck. Below the ridges is a larger more gradual ridge below which are another two pronounced ridges. The shaft then narrows towards a point at the tip. It is a Crummy type 5.

Copper alloy pin dating to the Roman period. It is long and regular and circular in section. One end is pointed while the other is flat and hollow. There is an incised line just below the top of the pin. The head of the pin is missing. It is probably a Type 2 metal hairpin which were introduced early in the second century.
