A near complete iron linch pin of Manning (1985) Type 2B dating to the third or fourth century AD. It possesses a flat rectangular-sectioned shaft, ?broken at one end, expanding at the other to a rounded spatulate head, with a robust rectangular-sectioned bar extending from the top, bent into a round loop which sits above the linch pin head. A separate rectangular-sectioned piece of iron held onto the front of the object by corrosion appears to be unrelated. An incomplete iron knife dating to the Roman or medieval period. The knife possesses a square-sectioned tang, tapering to a broken tip, the other end sloping out from both sides to a short, parallel-sided, triangular-sectioned knife blade. The tip is currently rounded, but it is not clear whether this is a break. It may belong to Manning's Type 15 or the rarer Types 20 or 21. However, it is also possible that this knife is post-Roman in date as some medieval knives also have central tangs (Goodall 1980, Fig. 10).
